WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT

WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT

ACTS 4:1-8

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;

“for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[fn] in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

ACTS 2:1-4

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord[fn] in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

MESSAGE

In the first scripture, Jesus told the disciples of the promise of Holy Spirit and after they will receive power to do those things, they will not be able to do in their own power. The Holy Spirit is the third in the Trinity and has been before creation – Gen. 1:2. We need the Holy Spirit to be able to accomplish God’s purpose in our lives. Jesus during His earthly ministry relied of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God is described as water according to John 4:14. He is also described as fire in Matthew 3:11 and finally as wind in John 3:8. This Holy Spirit is the one that empower Samson and was able to achieve great victories. Holy Spirit teaches, help us to pray, remind us of the words of the Lord and convicts us of sins. There is nothing a believer can do without the enablement of the person of the Holy Spirit.

The way Holy Spirit works are inexhaustible and flow to us in diverse ways, but these are few, by laying of hands, through object – Acts 19:11-12, through word – Acts 10:34-44 to mention a few.

The power of the Holy Spirit is not for show or for selfish motive but to propagate the Kingdom of God, to heal, and as directed by the Spirit of God. You will realise that Peter who was afraid of a servant girl at the trial of Jesus was able to stand and preach on the Pentecost day and about three thousand were added to the church.  As much as the Holy Spirit is ready and willing to empower us, you cannot experience the Spirit of God if you have not given your life to Jesus according to Acts 2:38-39.

Give your life to the Lord today and then pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit and according to Luke 11:9-13, the Lord is willing to bless you.

Do it today.
