Clay in Potters hands

Jeremiah 18:1-6

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.

Glory be to God for his grace, mercy, and protection during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also sympathise with families who have lost loved ones, the Holy Spirit our Comforter will comfort them.

The story of the clay in the hands of the potter is a reminder of who owns us, believers and non-believers. The clay has no say on what the potter decides to make from it, special or ordinary use. God is our maker and made us for different purposes, but we are all fearfully and wonderfully made according to Psalm 139:14. In the name of the Lord, you will fulfil your destiny!
If you are a believer, you are a masterpiece of God according to Jeremiah 1:5 because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. God has a plan for you, but it is down to you to actualise the plan.
The plan of God for the family of Eli was to be priests, but he and his children were disobedient, so God transferred priesthood to a young man called Samuel (1 Samuel 2:28-36). May you not offend God.

Here are examples of masterpieces in the hands of God

  1. Abraham – He answered the call of God faithfully and was called a friend of God.
  2. Moses – God called Moses from retirement to lead his people out of captivity into the Promised Land.
  3. Ruth – A Moabite turned herself to a tool in the hands of Yahweh and became the great grandmother of King David.
  4. Paul – this apostle went from supporting the murder of Christians to giving everything to the service of the Lord and wrote two thirds of the new testament.
It is highly rewarding to allow yourself to be used by God.

2 Chronicles 16:9

The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him

Are you ready to be used by God?
How can you be a candidate of God’s masterpiece? Here’s how to begin…
First and foremost, give your life to Jesus.
Live a life of holiness, God will only use an empty vessel that is ready to be obedient to Him.
Be prepared to be moulded. You will change your ways of life in conformity to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
You must be humble to do the will of God, the Lord resists the proud.
Finally according to 2 Corinthians 13:5 you must regularly assess your stand with the Lord. Ask yourself am I growing, stagnant or declining?

In this eighth month of the year that represents beginnings, make yourself available to God for use, it is highly rewarding!
I pray that the Lord will remove whatever will not let you be a useful vessel completely.

God be with you
