God Still Answers Prayers

Psalms 65: 2

2O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

The Oxford dictionary describes prayer as a ‘solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or deity’.

Prayer, to a believer, is communication between God and man, in other words a two-way communication between us and God.

You don’t pray to someone who is below you, you pray to the person who is above and has the capacity to answer your request.

Who is our God?

He is the creator

In Genesis 1:1, our God is the creator of all things and in Revelation 22:13, he is the Alpha and Omega. He is before all who created the heaven and the earth.

God is the provider.

Genesis 2:15-16 tells us that before Adam was created the Lord had already provided for him in the garden of Eden.

Philippians 4:19 says that my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. God shall provide not man.

He has good plans for us

Jeremiah 29:11 says His thoughts towards us are good.

He can and has the capacity to fulfil His promise

Psalm 89:4 – My covenant will I not break nor alter the things that is gone out of my lips. He is a faithful God and is not a man that should lie. He can never lie.

He can rescue His children from danger according to Isaiah 49:24-25, and because He can do all these, we call Him the God that answers prayers.

As the Lord lives, all your prayers will be answered by fire in Jesus name.

The bible encourages us to pray without ceasing and our Lord Jesus was our model when He was with us on earth.  Prayer changes situations, are you praying? Jabez called on the Lord to change his situation and the Lord granted his request. The Lord will grant your requests and lift you out of the valley to the mountain top.

Jehoshaphat prayed to the Lord in his hour of need and the Lord destroyed his enemies, the Lord will deal with anyone that rises against you.

If prayer is the way to speak to the Lord, what must I do?

  1. Accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, the Lord will not listen to the prayer of a sinner as in Proverbs 15:8
  2. Believe in God and trust in him – Hebrews 11:6
  3. Forgive those who offended you – Matthew 6:13-14
  4. Make praise a lifestyle – Psalm 50:23
  5. Ask for the help of the Holy Spirit – Romans 8:26
  6. Fasting and prayer is important – Matthew 17:21

Prayer is our weapon, don’t let the enemy deny you of your closeness to your Maker.

Pray for your children, your community, unbelievers to come to the light of Jesus and for your nation.

I decree that from now on as you bear in your body the marks of Jesus Christ, no one will be able to trouble you and your family in Jesus name.

God be with you.
