DIVINE HELP

TEXT: PSALM 121:1-8

‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.’
Divine help can be described as the assistance of a deity, in this case not worthless idols, but the Almighty God the creator of heaven and earth.
We all need help in one area or two and no one in this world can operate without the help of others.
However, the help of human beings is limited because they also need help.
Even though our Lord Jesus is the word of God and second in the Trinity, He still needed the help of the Father while on earth.
Furthermore, our world is a battlefield and without divine help no one can make it in the battle of this life. If you have a medical emergency, a 999 call will bring you an ambulance, but even then, there may come a time where the doctors are powerless to help. When you are faced with spiritual emergency, who do you call? Your parents, spouse, friends and even your pastor can only pray, the Almighty God is the only one that can fight your battle and give you victory.
Psalm 146:3-5
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
Only divine help can guide you through your red sea because there are Pharaohs on the way.
1 Peter 5:8 says Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Life is full of pitfalls that only by God’s help we can navigate the dangers of it.
We need help from within and without according to the word of our Lord in Matthew 10:36 a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
Joseph’s brothers conspired against him, but God sent him help and they came back to bow down to him.

In 2 Chronicles 20:1-25, the enemies gathered against Judah led by Jehoshaphat. He was in a desperate situation that no man could help him with, so he ran to the Lord for help and the Lord gave him victory.
If God be for you who can be against you (Romans 8:31)
I decree any evil conspiracy against you will fail in Jesus name.
In 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, Jabez’ situation was so bad that his mother named him Jabez because she gave birth to him in sorrow. Jabez means ‘Because I bore him with pain.’ He did not seek help from the mother that gave him sorrow as name or any man but to the Almighty the unchangeable changer. The God who raised up the poor out of the dust and lifted the poor out of the dunghill, that he may set him with princes and make a barren woman a joyful mother of children – psalm 113:7-9
To receive divine help, you must be in the secret place and abide in the shadow of the Almighty, meaning you must give your life to the Lord Jesus and continually obey him.
The everlasting arms of God can continually stretch to reach, protect and lift you up.
The world situation requires us all to seek God’s help to heal our land from the Covid-19 pandemic and grant world peace.
Do you need help? Call on Him today, He is knocking at the door of your heart, let him in.
